What is Blue Cheese?
Blue cheese is a type of cheese with blue-green mold growing on the outside. The mold is harmless and helps enhance the cheese’s flavor.
Blue cheese has a rich, creamy texture and a sharp, tangy flavor. It is often used in salads and as a topping for burgers and steaks or as a dip for chicken wings.
How to Make the Best Blue Cheese Dressing – Rich, Creamy, and Chunky.
If you’re a chicken wings lover, like me, you came to the right place. There’s nothing quite like homemade blue cheese dressing dip to take your air fryer chicken wings to the next level.
But don’t just stop there, this dressing can be used for veggies, paired with other spicy sides like air fryer jalapeno poppers, or can be the perfect dressing to use for a delicious steak salad!
Simply combine some blue cheese crumbles, mayonnaise, sour cream, and a few other simple ingredients. Give it a whisk with the fork until it’s smooth, and then refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve it up with your favorite wings, and enjoy the deliciousness. Bon appetit!
- 4 ounces of bleu cheese crumbles. I use Roquefort. I feel that it’s creamier with a smooth flavor. It is made from sheep’s milk
- 3 Tablespoons sour cream
- 2 Tablespoons Mayonaise
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream. Can substitute for buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 garlic clove, finely minced. Can substitute for 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
In a small bowl, add half of the bleu cheese and heavy cream, using a fork mash them up until the mixture looks like a large curd cottage cheese.
Add the sour cream, mayo, oil, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, salt, and pepper, to the bleu cheese and stir to combine.
Add in the remaining bleu cheese crumbles and stir.
Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes, or best for 1 hour.
Enjoy the best rich and creamy homemade blue cheese dressing dip.
Homemade Blue Cheese Dressing vs. Store Bought
There’s no denying that store-bought blue cheese dressing can be convenient. But when it comes to taste, homemade dressing wins hands down. Not only will your dip be tastier than the store-bought variety, but it will also be more economical.
Store-bought Blue Cheese dressing may be loaded with chemicals and additives that can be bad for your health. No wonder why some store-bought blue cheese dressings last for months after opening.
Tips for Storing Blue Cheese Dip so that it Will Stay Fresh and Delicious.
First of all, make sure that the dip is stored in an airtight container. If there is too much air exposure, the dip will start to spoil.
Secondly, be sure to refrigerate the dip as soon as possible after making it. Homemade one will last in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Don’t forget to label the dip with the date that it was made. This will help you to keep track of how long it has been in the fridge and ensure that you don’t eat it after it has expired.
Lastly, my favorite tip. The actual unused Blue Cheese crumbles can be stored in the freezer. Yay! So you can keep the crumbled cheese freezer-fresh and use a portion of it as needed. No defrosting is required. Because there are crumbles, they easily get separated from the rest of the crumbled mass.
