Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Drumsticks with Mustard Sauce
Air fried Garlic Lemon Dijon Chicken Drumsticks - delicious tender roasted chicken legs, air fried in a rich garlic mustard sauce, with a touch of honey. Air frying chicken legs results in crispy skin and a juicy center. The end result is one of the most delicious chickens I ever made, with extra crispy skin and a juicy tender interior.
The bottom line, this is a quick and easy dinner. Chicken perfectly cooked. Crispy and moist.
I love to serve this chicken dish with air-fried broccoli or air fryer roasted asparagus.
4 Chicken legs or drumsticks
4 Tablespoons olive oil
4 garlic cloves pressed and minced
2 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
2 Tablespoons Whole grain Mustard
2 Tablespoons lemon juicy, freshly squeezed
½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
¼ teaspoon pepper, or to taste
2 sprigs of rosemary (optional)
1. Reserve ¼ of the marinade and set aside
2. Transfer chicken legs to a large bowl or a large ziplock bag. Pour the ¾ of the marinade of the chicken and toss with your hands or a food brush to evenly coat the chicken. Cover with lid and let marinate for at least 30 minutes to an hour. Overnight is the best.
3. Air fryer directions: Pre-heat air fryer to 400F/200C
4. Transfer chicken to the air fryer basket/tray, lined with air fryer parchment paper. I use standard parchment paper and cut it to fit my air fryer tray. Lining with foil is great too.
5. Air fry mode at 390F for 10 minutes. Then open air fryer, flip each chicken on the other side. Pour the remaining sauce over the chicken and fry for an additional 10 minutes at 350F/180C or until the skin has browned and crispy.
6. For the last 3 minutes, add sprigs of rosemary. Rosemary only needs 3 minutes in the air fryer until crispy and crunchy.
Preheat oven to 400F. Transfer chicken to an oven-proof dish and bake at 400F in the center of the oven for 30 minutes, flipping halfway. Or until the chicken has browned with crispy skin.
This chicken dish is great served with air-fried broccoli, air fryer roasted asparagus or air fryer roasted carrots.
