Apple Cinnamon Detox Water - The Best Natural Detox Drink with only 2 Ingredients

April 15, 2016 by Irina 47 Comments

It is important to detox your body every once in a while.  Give your system a break and get rid of some of those bad chemicals that are floating around your bloodstream.  It is almost like cleaning out the cache on your computer or refreshing your browser.  Every once in a while you need to shut down, stop and give your body a vacation.  For the mind, we can meditate and for the body, we can detox. ?  apple cinnamon detox water

With that said I have tried many different types of detox methods over the years.  There is juicing, ACV-lemon-cayenne pepper drink, and the colon-cleanse to mention a few.  They are all pretty good at ridding your body of toxins and setting the reset button so to speak.  I recently found another detox drink that I wanted to share with everyone.  It is called Apple Cinnamon Detox Water, it's the quickest and simplest to make, and here is the recipe:

I will share 2 methods of preparation: Boil and no boil. Recommended by dr. Oz.

apple cinnamon detox drink boil and no boil methods

Boil Method (my favorite! Besides the healthy benefits, my house smells amazing! Adapted from Sparkles to Sprinkles)

Ingredients:
  1. One gallon water (filtered or bottled)
  2. 6 Apples
  3. 6 Cinnamon Sticks
Instructions
  1. Bring water to boil and then reduce to low heat to simmer.
  2. Core and slice your apples - This handy tool - apple corer and slicer may help.
  3. Try to slice apples as thin as possible!
  4. Add apples and cinnamon sticks to your simmering water.
  5. Simmer 45 minutes. Let stand and cool.
  6. Strain water into a glass pitcher.
  7. Enjoy fresh right away.
  8. You may enjoy it at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  9. You may discard the cooked apples or eat them for a gut health

No-boil method.

Follow the same exact instructions as above, add ingredients to your water, just do not boil it. Simply let sit for an hour or two, then refrigerate and enjoy. Since apples are raw (not cooked), you may eat them or reuse them for the next apple cinnamon water batch.

Apple

  • Flushes  toxins
  • Aids weight loss
  • Fights cancer
  • Boosts immune system

Cinnamon

  • Speeds up metabolism
  • Aids digestion
  • Improves brain function

Why I prefer the boil method?

Not only because my house smells amazing, but there are more nutrients that go into the detox water and it is a little sweeter too with only a few calories. So forget about soda and juices and let this apple cinnamon water do miracles in a week. The results you should expect from this concoction are an increased weight loss and an amazing energy boost!

Drink 1 glass first thing in the morning and before your meals. Take it to the gym, on a bicycle ride, power walk - the more you sweat the more toxins your body will flush. I also like to do a half-a-day detox, where after 6 pm I don't eat anything, just drink this apple cinnamon water.

Practice for 7 days and then compare the results. You should get (16) 8-ounce glasses from one gallon.

3 ingredient Detox Water - The results you should expect from this concoction are an increased weight loss and amazing energy boost!

I haven't tried it yet must go to the store for the cinnamon sticks. What do you do with the apples and cinnamon sticks after you strain it.
I would eat the apples, what did you do??

HI Joan, If i use the boil method, I simmer the apples and cinnamon in the water for 15 minutes. Then the water cools down for at least an hour. I found that apples gave all their nutrients, juices and sugar directly into a water and practically lost their sweetness and texture. Plus I slice them SUPER THIN . They kinda remind me of applecauce texture with no sugar. I tried to eat a few but they are tasteless so I discard them into my compost pile. What about you? Have you tried it yet?

This is very tasty and hydrating. It is a nice to grab some from the re-fridge to take outdoors when I am gardening in the heat. I did the simmer method. It had plenty of flavor for me with 1 gallon water, 3 apples, and 4 cinnamon sticks. I sliced the apples thinly on a mandolin. I smashed the cinnamon sticks a little with a hammer, to get more surface area contact with the water, and increase the flavor. Hint: Wrap the cinnamon sticks in a cloth before smashing....or the pieces fly all over. Next time, I might try adding some dried orange peel. After it cools a little, I might add some green tea leaves to steep for the additional health benefit. I plan to give some of the finished product to a few of my friends. I'll put it in individual bottles and alongside I'll include the apples, cinnamon sticks, and recipe, so they can make their own. Thank you for sharing your post and recipe.

I was so excited to go grocery shopping! I was like a kid in a candy store. I bought a CASE of water and the BIGGEST container of cinnamon sticks I could find...........should I reuse the sticks out discard them?

Hi Skittles, what could be more exciting than shopping for 2-ingredient healthy detox water, right? Me the same, was very excited and got the large container of cinnamon sticks. Once you prepare your detox water and pour it into the jar(s) you will see that cinnamon sticks will open up and become soggy. Discard them and use the new ones with your new fresh batch. You only need 3-4 sticks and you can add a small pinch on cinnamon powder if you like. Good luck!

I started drinking this water today. I find it very tasty and I am feeling better and not craving my pop.
You can add honey to the mix to help boost the metabolism as well.
Add it to the cool water after it cools though.

Thank you! Cinnamon sticks, Once added to the water, they should add flavor and aroma. Yes, absolutely you can substitute for cinnamon powder – I read that 1 -3″ stick equals 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon). So you may need to add 3-4 teaspoons. I would start with 2-3 and then you taste. If the liquid tastes good to you, you can add more… Let me know you made the apple cider and if cinnamon powder was ok, which i’m sure it will be… Good luck… I love adding cinnamon powder to various of my meals…

When you boil things don't they lose nutrients?

HI Edel, This is what they say.. I agree but the nutrients also go into the water making this drink really delicious. As an alternative, I also suggest the no-boil method in this post. Works just as good. Why not try both? you will like both methods... Let me know what you think

How long will the detox water last once it’s put in the refrigerator? It sounds like it will taste great. I’m going to try it and see how I feel after drinking it. Hopefully it will also help me lose some weight. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Debi, It does taste great... Since you are discarding the apples, this water will last good in your fridge for 7 days. It maybe longer, but I already have it gone here in 1-3 days.?
      Hope you enjoy
