DIY Detox Tea recipe for Healthy Body and Glowing Skin

April 5, 2016 by Irina 28 Comments

Start your morning right - every day! This is literally the only detox tea/ detox water recipe you ever need that you can make DIY, with few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry!

I love this detox tea recipe because after incorporating it in my daily diet I noticed an improved digestion, amazing energy boost, glowing skin, healthier hair and even helped with weight loss and bad breath.

One of the main ingredients is Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) which have been spoken about more and more over the years.   Some of the many other benefits include, weight loss, increased energy, suppressing hunger, boosts your immune system, it can aid with digestive tract issues such as IBS...the list keeps going.  This detox tea can be the number one most important steps to an overall much healthier you.
Drinking straight Apple Cider Vinegar is not recommended and its always recommended you add water before consuming it.  Taking the few extra steps to make this Apple Cider Vinegar Morning Detox Tea is so worthwhile.  The taste is more than pleasant which is not always said of just mixing it with water.  By adding these few additional ingredients you are also reaping their health benefits as well.

DIY Detox tea for Healthy body and glowing skinThis tea can be enjoyed warm or over ice.  If you are having it warm, do not boil your tea as you will cook off the acidity and kill the active cultures.  Just heat it to a nice warm temperature to enjoy.
You can make a big batch since this will last in your fridge for up to one week.

Recipe for DIY Detox tea
24 ounces of Water (700ml)
4 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar (using organic raw and unfiltered is important for maximum benefits. I know of 2 great brands - Bragg Organic ACV or Brad's - also can be found in the supermarket)
4 Tbsp. lemon juice (Fresh squeezed)
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 pinch cayenne pepper
4 Tbsp. honey (raw honey is best)
Dissolve cinnamon, cayenne, honey, and lemon in hot water (stir well).  Add apple cider vinegar to mixture.
Enjoy right away for a warm cup of detox tea and store the rest in the fridge in an air-tight container.

Enjoy!

Also, try this simple Apple-Cinnamon Detox Water

Let me know if you tried this DIY detox tea and if you liking it. Remember to drink this tea on the empty or hungry stomach for best results or before each meal.

For a healthy hair hack - I also love to dump the leftovers of this mixture onto my hair for a wonderful natural hair rinse.

This is a good detox recipe. I do my own version of this. Just organic apple cider, cinnamon and honey, mix in a little jar and put a couple of tablespoons in the first glass of water you drink in the morning. Takes less space in the fridge.

This is a great idea. So I guess you can make a more concentrated mixture and then mix it with a glass of water. I agree! Takes less space. Great tip!

Question for you. Do you think you could use lime juice or grapefruit juice instead of lemon? I am allergic to lemons but not limes or grapefruit, go figure. Another question is could you add it to green tea instead of water to boost up the antioxidant properties?

Hi LaDena, I haven't tried this recipe with limes or grapefruit, but If you allergic to lemons, them most certainly you should not use them. I don't see a problem adding the recipe with limes or grapefruit. The key in this recipe is ACV added to the mixture. I look forward to your thoughts and how it tasted once you add it to green tea instead of water and with added lime juice or grapefruit juice. I'm sure it will be a powerful healthy boost. Another recipe I may recommend is one of my favorite and simple - go to my site and type in search - Apple Cinnamon Detox Water. You may enjoy it too.

One glass a day each morning should be fantastic! No need to have before each meal. Make a big batch and store the tea in your fridge. Will last at least a week.

I just bought a bottle of mixture that tasted very similar. The cost is $3.99. It was good but had so much cayene pepper. I admit your recipe is way better...

Anything I can sub for cinnamon? (I'm allergic) Omitting it with only the cayenne seems like it wouldn't taste very good.

This seems like a lot of honey for this amount of fluid, what does it do for us physically?

HI Suzie, You can definitely try to reduce the amount of honey. I found it's best for this amount of fluid... not too sweet and not too sour. And balances our ACV and cayenne pepper....

Can this be made without honey? Just making sure the honey doesn’t have any detox benefit. I am not a fan of honey or sweet drinks. Thank you

The antimicrobial properties in honey helps in the detox process. But if you're not a fan of sweet drinks (me too btw) you can reduce the amount of honey in half. The drink will not be as sweet. But yes, try to make it without honey and let me know how you liked the drink... happy detoxing

Has anyone else noticed that once all the ingredients are combined, that it develops a goopy/snot-like consistency in the bottom of the bottle/mug? I’ve tried making this drink in larger quantities to shake, pour, nuke and I cannot avoid the ‘mother’ glob. This has occurred when making it fresh as well.

This is most likely from cayenne pepper.
You can actually strain if you don't like to see it. Works well !

I just tried this and I have bad allergies and asthma. I was also looking to help the rest of my body. I’ve tried just one cup so far but I already feel my throat and sinuses feeling much better. I know the honey has anti inflammatory properties so I was hoping this would help. It really does and the taste is spicy but not sour. I really like your recipe. Thanks for sharing!

HI Julie, Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm so glad you found this DIY detox tea helpful. To reduce the spice, try to reduce the cayenne pepper. Add a bit of Sage if you like. I practice adding Sage and Turmeric to my tea lately. Feel better

Just made this today! Had my first glass and made my hubby one too. Been looking for a good detox tea and this one caught my eye. I made the whole batch and both him and I started with 6 oz each. Drank it warm. Very good and not strong at all. I like you use raw honey so it’s all natural sugars instead of processed like store bought honey. Gonna do three days on and one day off. 100% recommend this recipe.

How quickly did you notice a difference after drinking it?

HI Nicole. Thank you for your note. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I actually drink this tea every day. Lately, I started adding it to the lemon ginger tea. I absolutely love it. I feel great consuming it
