How to make a DIY Homemade Wine Gummies – Only 3 Ingredients

           Recently I came home from a fair with a container full of assorted candies. My kids were happy since we usually don’t eat those kinds of sweets in our house. There were things like gummy bears, sour gummies, lemonheads and bunch of other nastiness. After eating several gummy bears, I was reminded just how much I love them. Then I started wondering if anyone has ever made an adult gummy type treat. You know something with a little bit of a kick? And before long I found a recipe for wine gummies. You can check out the recipe and photos below.

     The recipe is not complicated at all and the list of ingredients is short. After making wine gummies, my husband and I gave them a try. My husband said they tasted too much like wine and I was like,” Of course that’s the point.” Men sometimes you just can’t figure them out!. Not too sweet and not too sour. Overall I think they make a great finger snack to go along with cheese and crackers or other appetizers.

        Their smooth texture just glides over your tongue and the flavor of the wine disperses through your mouth. I can’t wait to make more using some of my other favorite types of wine. I’ll share my findings as I make new wine gummies. My next project will be white wine gummies and Margarita gummies. 🙂

How to make Wine Fruit Snacks – Wine Gummies – Red wine cubes

(or Jelly shots—whatever shape you want to make them or call them)

The recipe yields about 24-26 wine gummies

1 and 1/2 cup wine (Pinot Noir, Cabernet or any red wine will work)
2 Tbsp gelatin (I used the brand called Knox, got it from my local supermarket, you can get it online too)
2 -3 Tbsp maple syrup 

Note: The amount of maple syrup you use will depend on (1) how dry your wine is and (2) how sweet you want your gummies! You’ll have to taste it as you go and add more as needed. To my liking 2 TBS was just perfect. Like I said earlier, they came out perfect – Not too sweet and not too dry.

Also, you can double or triple this–it works just the same!

       In a saucepan, warm the wine on low heat. Add the gelatin one Tbsp at a time, and stir very well before adding more. I stirred the gelatin/wine with a whisk.

 After the gelatin has completely dissolved, add Maple Syrup. I added 2 Tbsp maple syrup to my batch of wine gummies.  

          Once your mixture is ready, either use a spoon to fill a mold (if you have a heart mold) or dump the whole batch into a pan or glass pan (for square cut gummies). I’ve done it both ways—and although the hearts are pretty, I’ll make the square ones if they’re just for me (easier).

         Put them in the fridge to set. Chill for at least 2-3 hours. They really do become the texture of gummy bears. I keep them in the fridge, but  you don’t have to if you want to pack them up and take them to a party. They won’t un-gel.

Maple Syrup. The nutrients found in maple syrup include energy, water, protein, fat, carbohydrates, and sugars. In terms of minerals, it contains calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus sodium, potassium, and zinc. Vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and B6 are also found in maple syrup. Source

           So after all 3 ingredient wine gummies are not too bad. They taste good. They are great for decorations. They can be great to surprise your party guests and they can be great for Halloween parties too. It’s all about snacking responsibly! 🙂

      Of course. Just double/triple the ingredients. They store very well in the fridge.
