Delicious sweet and spicy air fryer pickles in a golden crispy breading are the perfect snacks for home parties. They can be served with a dipping sauce or used as an ingredient in delicious burgers and sandwiches. Airfrying helps you get a super crispy crust. A great alternative to deep-frying!
You can use any pickle chips or cut your favorite pickled cucumbers into circles. I have used Trader Joe's sweet and spicy organic sandwich pickles which were already pre-cut and crunchy. Then I rolled them in flour, buttermilk/egg mixture, and, finally, in a mixture of panko breadcrumbs mixed with seasoning. To serve, prepare the homemade honey-chipotle sauce or mix ketchup, mayonnaise, and horseradish. Yum!

How to Make Fried Pickles in Air Fryer
- You will need to create a batter for the pickles using all-purpose flour, buttermilk, breadcrumbs (I used panko), an egg, and seasoning.
- Season the flour with dried dill, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add the buttermilk to the flour and stir.
- Dip the pickles in the buttermilk flour mixture and then the breadcrumbs.
- Freeze.
- Air fry.
- Dip the fried pickles in Homemade Chipotle dressing.
Ingredients
- 16 oz Hamburger Dill chips pickles. If you use the whole jar, you will get approximately 50 fried pickles.
- 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs.
- 1 egg
- ¾ cup flour
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil or use air fryer parchment paper.

Using the paper towel or kitchen towel, dry the pickles as much as possible. It will make them easier to bread.

In a large bowl add flour and season it with garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.

Add the buttermilk and egg to the seasoned flour. Beat and stir to combine.

In a separate bowl add the panko breadcrumbs.

Dredge the pickles in the flour buttermilk mixture and then right after in the panko breadcrumbs.

Place the breaded pickles on a plate. After breading the pickles, freeze the pickles for 15 minutes. This is optional but helps keep the breading intact.

Lay the pickles in the air fryer basket or tray. Give them some space. Cook in batches if needed.

Spray the pickles with cooking oil. I use Ghee butter spray.

Cook for 10 minutes at 380 degrees flipping after 5 minutes.

How to Make the Air Fryer Pickles Low Carb
Omit the buttermilk, flour, and breadcrumbs. Replace with 1 ¾-2 cups crushed pork rinds and 2 tablespoons of blanched almond flour. Instead of using 1 egg in the recipe, use 2 eggs.
