Have you ever had a craving for strawberry cream cheese? I’m pretty sure that is a flavor of cream cheese if you go into any bagel store, or maybe not. I was thinking to myself who knows what they put in that cream cheese anyway, and how long it’s been sitting inside the store. What if there was a way to make strawberry flavored cream cheese yourself? That would be great wouldn’t it? I thought it would be an interesting challenge so I started doing some research. If you search the web you will find many different recipes for making strawberry cream cheese a long with other types of fruits as well.
I took a look at a few of these recipes and after a bit of thinking decided to come up with my own twist. I went to the store and purchased my favorites plain cream cheese, a container of plump fresh organic strawberries, and some soft potato bread. After getting home I washed and sliced the strawberries. I made the slices around ¼ inch each. I then took out several slices of the potato bread and spread on some cream cheese. After that I placed the slices of strawberry onto the bread closed it up and sliced the sandwich into halves. I then served up the sandwiches to my husband and son for a taste test. They both loved the treat and said it was much better than some flavored cream cheese. My husband said he like the sandwich because the fresh strawberries made it a little crunchy and the flavors mixed in his mouth instead of on the bread. Well my next venture will be blueberries and cream cheese. I will let you know how that goes.
