This Air Fryer Shrimp recipe is easy to make and perfectly crunchy. The breaded shrimp (dipped in panko) will turn out to be as delicious and crispy as deep-fried, only without excess oil, fat, and calories.
I used large peeled shrimp with tails. Each is rolled in spicy flour, then in an egg, and covered with fluffy and airy panko breadcrumbs.
After frying, the shrimp are very crispy on the outside and tender juicy on the inside. Serve with the preferred shrimp sauce of your choice. I have made this recipe several times and served it with Bang Bang sauce or this delicious homemade chipotle sauce.
Air fryer shrimp is an excellent quick-to-make snack for house parties or for a movie night.

Ingredients: Fried Shrimp
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined. With the tails on.
½ teaspoon salt and freshly ground black pepper
¾ cup flour
2 large eggs
2 Tablespoons Buttermilk (or Half and half)
1 cup panko breadcrumbs.
½ teaspoon smoked paprika powder
Note:
For Low Carb and Keto Friendly Air fryer breaded shrimp, I used Pork Panko and Almond flour instead. I also love this Air fryer shrimp (Jerk shrimp style) from Air Fryer Yum.
Directions
- Spray the basket of a 3.5-quart air fryer with cooking spray and set it aside. Pat the shrimp dry between a couple of paper towels, then season with a pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper.
- Whisk the flour with ½ teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper and ½ teaspoon paprika in a shallow bowl or baking dish. Whisk the eggs, buttermilk with a pinch of salt in another shallow bowl. Add the panko to a third shallow bowl.
- Dip a shrimp in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess.
- Then dip in the beaten eggs.
- Dredge in the panko, turning until evenly coated. Transfer to a large plate or a rimmed baking sheet and repeat with the remaining shrimp.
- Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees F. Working in batches, place some of the shrimp in a single layer in the fryer basket, then spray lightly with more cooking spray. Cook for 3 minutes until the shrimp are golden brown. Open your air fryer, flip the shrimp halfway through, and cook another 3 minutes or until golden brown, and the breading crisps up.
- Serve with homemade Chipotle sauce. Or shrimp sauce of your choice.

I just made these in my Emeril Lagasse French Door Air Fryer grill. They came out fantastic!!! Because of the size of this air fryer - I didn't have to work in batches and they were the star of dinner with a green salad on the side. Thank you so much for posting this recipe.

what about adding coconut flakes??
Irina
They turn amazing. Roll shrimp in coconut flakes along with panko and air fry 3-4 mins per side, as per recipe, at 375°F
