My 14 Days SlimFast Challenge results revealed #SlimFastChallenge

January 19, 2014 by Irina 49 Comments

2 Weeks ago I committed to my 14 Days SlimFast Challenge which was a part of sponsored challenge and post from Global Influence and Walgreens on behalf of SlimFast.

slimfast challenge

I received 16 Slim Fast meal replacement creamy milk chocolate shakes and 16 chocolate cookie dough protein meal replacement bars.

I learned that I suppose to:

  • Replace 2 meals a day with the shakes and bars
  • exercise 30 minutes a day
  • eat a 1200 calorie a day diet

How did I work the SlimFast 14 Days Challenge Program:

1. First of I had a cereal and 2% milk for breakfast (about 8 AM)

2. Secondly I went to my gym in the morning 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Tuesday and Thursday I exercised at home using my new Zumba Wii Game that my husband got me for Christmas.

3. Right after gym or workout I immediately drank 1 bottle of  Slimfast shake (190 calories, 6g of fat, 25g of carbs, 5g of fiber, 18g of sugar, 10g of protein and loaded with other vitamins and minerals) - I took the shake around 10:30 AM

4. Around 12:30 PM I was already hungry so I had my egg omelette with cheese and vegetables.

5. Around 3 PM I had another Slimfast shake or Slimfast cookie dough protein meal replacement bar.

6. Around 5:30 or 6 PM I had a full size dinner with my family (approximately 400-500 calories) such as chicken with vegetables, meatballs with vegetables, turkey tacos with vegetables or even my most famous loved by everyone 30 minute Maple Pecan Salmon with Arugula Salad.

7. Around 9 pm if I was hungry I had a very light snack such as backed multigrain crackers with hummus dip or celery with hummus dip.

I really liked the feel during the day that my body was light and not overstuffed, but you also see that I was not over-stuffing myself. I didn't feel light headed but i did feel hungry every 2 or 3 hours.

So now you want to know my results, right?

2 weeks ago when I put my body on the scale I was at 178 pounds ( I know I am still over weight)

180 pounds body

Today this morning when I stepped on my new Ozeri scale I was 176.8 pounds

2

Although I suppose to lose 6 pounds in 2 weeks I only lost like 2 or maybe even less. But I also think that my muscle mass increased because I was doing a lot of weight training as well as I still had ton of fluid in my body because I drank plenty of water, oh I forgot to mention I did drink coffee and teas with small amount of brown sugar during my challenge.

One last note from my gym buddies whom I talked about my 14 Day slimfast challenge: Few of my gals already did the slimfast diet or challenge. They told me that after you go off of slimfast diet or challenge most of them gain the weight right back.

The key is to keep exercising 30-60 minutes a day, eat small meals every 2-3 hours, eat fruits and veggies, avoid soda, sugars, high fructose corn syrup, alcohol, pastas and don't eat or snack after 7 or 8 pm depending on when you go to bed.

These above are personal thoughts, opinions and results about my 14 day slimfast challenge products.

Update: I have more exciting news! I stepped on the scale today on Jan 20 at 3Pm wearing my normal clothes and after having full size lunch my weight is actually less!

3

So I noticed that the weight loss is gradual, takes an effort of exercise and eating healthy. Now that my Slimfast challenge is over, my real challenge starts today. I need to keep the weight off and still keep loosing it. Remember I told you that my normal weight is 150 pounds. Today is definitely exciting news for me

Update on December 2014. After my 14 days Slimfast challenge in January, I haven't had any single SlimFast shake or bar. My weight is now 170 pounds however. As you can see I went from 180 to 170 in 1 year and keeping it steady and lowering it a little bit at a time. How I did it? Follow my fitness tips above and make sure to eliminate soda, sugars, high fructose corn syrup, alcohol, pastas, breads and don't eat or snack after 7 or 8 pm depending on when you go to bed, but at least 3 or 4 hours before bed time.

My goal is to go back to 150 pounds and I'm on a mission. Follow me along as I share many healthy soups and recipes, fitness tips.

So sorry, but you did it wrong. You are supposed to substitute the 2 shakes for meals. This means that you don't have 2 meals and have shakes INSTEAD. You had full breakfasts, lunches and dinners, AND the shakes. I am going to do this again (did it 20+ years ago and lost a lot). I will have a shake for breakfast and lunch and an apple or some small snack between meals and have a regular, healthy dinner.

I think you should try it again the correct way and you'll see a lot better results! 🙂

HI Robin. Thanks for your comment. Were you also on a 2-week challenge when you did your Slimfast program? Or how long did you do it for? Replacing 2 shakes a day for meals sounds doable. I will give it another try...

I also would have liked to have read your results sticking with the same scale that you started with since each scale can read differently depending on the calibration, so your results are definitely skewed within that aspect. I know it's fun to get a new scale, but using the same one throughout will provide you with more accurate results.

Absolutely.. I noticed she did it wrong, too. My daughter is almost 2, now, and I'm very much over weight. I am starting the slimfast diet, soon. It helped me years ago, too. But, you must follow the plan. That's the key ?

Doesn't sound like you followed the instructions. Say you normally eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner - for this to work, you would need to replace two meals with a slim fast shake, so lets say you want to eat dinner every night, your daily meals would be: Slim Fast Shake, Slim Fast Shake, Dinner. Try it again!

I have been on this diet for 1 week and have lost 5 lbs......Like Robin says you should replace two meals a day with shakes.

        Breakfast: Slimfast shake.
Morning Snack: fresh strawberries and blueberries or a banana
        Lunch: Slimfast shake
Afternoon Snack: raw baby carrots and broccoli or 10 small pretzels twists (110 calories).
Dinner: 4oz grilled chicken breast, mixed veggies, and small helping of scalloped potatoes.

Reducing your portions also helps tremendously, for example my dinner portions are not on a large plate but instead I use the medium salad plate. I also walk or bike for 30 minutes a day. I drink a lot of water and have cut bread and pasta almost completely out of my diet. I was a little hungry for the first couple of days but powered through it and now after a week I barely notice hunger at all and sometimes even have to force myself to have my morning or afternoon snack. I really hope you see results!!!!!

I'm surprised you didn't gain weight. Lol . Slimfast is a meal replacement . You're not supposed to eat a meal with the shake. Try it out again. I've been doing it for 1 week and already lost 3.5 lbs. On the back of the package it gives you instructions on how to follow the slimfast challenge .

I know this is from 2014 but she didn't do the slim fast diet right, you are ment to have a shake for breakfast and lunch then a 500/600 calorie tea and you are allowed 3 of the slim fast snacks a day, you had too many meals.

Skipping breakfast is horrible for your metabolism. Drink a shake for breakfast, it’s not that hard and tastes good. Have a salad with lots of lean meats and veggies for dinner (it’s light) and lunch do another shake or sandwich.

Irina, have you tried using Slim Fast the correct way (2 shakes as meal replacements and a 500-600 calories dinner) and if so, what kind of results have you seen? You're so pretty! Since I've read some really positive results here I'm going to give it a try.

I am on the SlimFast diet and drink a shake in the morning, eat a balanced lunch of 400to 500 calories, and two snacks a day. After about six weeks I have lost 5 lbs and that is with no exercise except house chores.
I will never stop this diet because I hate cooking with a passion. Much rather have a shake than to eat a meal. It’s not for everyone long term b but definitely is for me

I could tell immediately from reading this that you at far more then 1200 calories. Shakes are 180-200 calories and you also ate the bars so if you had two shakes and one bar a day that’s already 600 calories. Plus meatballs (which are high in fat calories or tacos) plus an omelet (depends on how many eggs they are around 60 a piece, without cheese, butter or stuff to go in them... crackers are terrible for dieting. What I do when I use slim fast is just replace my evening meal or my morning meal. I eat light the rest of the day. No soda, breads, anything with a large amount of fat (like red meats that aren’t lean) etc... the working out thing is great and I’m so glad you are working on yourself. But 10 lbs in year seems like your not doing something right. Healthy weight loss should look something like 1lb a week or 4-5 lbs per month. Eating a 1500 calorie diet will enable you to lose more weight without starving to death and if you eat healthy and lots of veggies and lean meats/fruits, the calories end up not even counting. Meats turn into proteins that die and do not turn into fat so you can eat as much as you want. Veggies are negative calories so you can consume as many of those as you want with no risk of gaining weight. Low fat cheese is great also and nuts and fruits! Gotta be careful relying on a shake to make you lose weight. It’s best just to learn portion control or use an app such as Spark people (which a nutritionist recommended to me awhile back) it’s great for looking up calorie and nutrition content in any food and also for tracking exercise! Good luck!

Im curious if your little weight loss is because you didn't quite follow the diet. You're supposed to only have one meal and do the slimfast as the other meal replacements along with a few 100 calorie snacks. It looks like you were still eating three meals a day on top of the slimfast products.

I recently started working out and started using slim fast to replace one meal a day and I already lost five pounds. I don't want to do 2 meal replacements. I usually have some kind of fruit as a snack in between. My long term goal is to lose 20 lbs.

This is all wrong the way you did it would cause weight gain. You should have a shake for breakfast a 100 calorie snack between then and lunch then another shake for lunch, another 100 calorie snack between then and dinner then a nice 500 calorie meal for dinner. Then you can have a 100 calorie dessert or snack after.

Should be. Shake snack shake snack dinner snack. Not food shake food shake food shake

If you do it the correct way you can lose 4 to 10 lbs the first two weeks. You also need 30 mins of exercise daily

    Hi Robin,

In one week, with the Keto Meal Replacement Shakes, I replaced two meals (breakfast & dinner) and dropped 6 pounds. This was 5 days and not 7. I'm hooked!

My issue is with dairy. I've been using water as instructed. However. My gut is suffering. Please advise.

I have heard that these slim fast shakes can be an issue. Is it constipation by chance your having issues with? I would try a miralax or light laxative or even ACV for general gut health.

If you replace the regular milk be it 1 % or 2 % with almond milk. 35 calories a cup the shake will only be 145 calories. Hey every calorie counts !

I am currently on the slimfast diet. I have seen a change after 5 days. I am currently trying to lose 50 pounds maybe less. I tried this diet before I had my daughter and it worked for me so I'm on it again. I do the shake powder mix with 16 oz of water. Shake for breakfast 2 hours later a 100 calorie slimfast snack. 2 hours later another shake for lunch then a snack again after 2 hours. Dinner (500 calorie or less meal) and a 100 calorie snack after. Not eating after 7pm, I cut out soda and sugary drinks. Stopped drinking coffee cause I got tired of the 2pm tired feeling. No bread, crackers or pasta! When I started this diet, I wasn't doing exercise and noticed a difference. I'm adding exercise into it now and I'm feeling so amazing! It's cheap and effective! Totally worth it!

170 lbs is considered anorectic in places like Texas and Ooooklahoma where girls in high school average 300 lbs plus.
Most likely genetic - peasant genes - suitable for surviving long periods of starvation due to crop failure and farm animals succumbing to epidemics. A touch of the old cholera is nothing for a big fatso! Might even slim down to the low 200s!

I been doing the slimfast 321 diet now for 74 days now and in that time I have lost about 47lbs. In the first month I think I lost about 28lbs, the month after that 14lbs, and since the beginning of December have lost 5lbs. My current weight is 262.8lbs. Don't know how much longer I can keep this diet up though. A few weeks back I thought to myself I will stop at Christmas but I might keep going until the new year(maybes I will stop at the end of January). My waist size has already gone down over 10 inches and I had to tighten the cord on my trousers at least three times over the last 2 and a half months.

I know that from November 6th to December 19th(today) I have gone from 283 to 263 so in that time I have lost 20lbs in 6 weeks. Just a little over 3lbs a week. The first couple of weeks on this diet are the hardest but if you stick to it you become used to it.

But I don't think you should be doing this diet longer than 6 months. After all it is meant to be a quick fix.

I used slim fast after my second child over 30 yrs ago & lost 60lbs in 6 months so I thought I would try it. I'm in a wheel chair so can't exercise except moving my chair. I have a smoothy ,reakfast & lunch. I use almond milk because its only 30 calories plus a cup of frozen fruit plus a half a banana. Then carrots & celery with 2 T of peanut butte then I have 4oz of fish or chicken, 1 cup vegies & a cup of sweet or regular potatoe. I use a air fryer so no fat. Its been 2 weeks & have lost 6.5 lbs. My goal is 40lbs. I don't get hungry & I stay busy.
