Air fryer spaghetti squash is a game-changer for this healthy vegetable and hands down the best way to make it. Cooking spaghetti squash in the air fryer means you can have perfectly cooked squash in just a fraction of the time it takes to bake it in the oven.
Pre the squash: Start by safely cutting the spaghetti squash in half, lengthwise. Scoop out the seeds with a spoon; a melon baller or ice cream scoop can work wonders here. Regular large spoon works just as well.If you chose to use any optional ingredients, this is the time to prepare them. Grate some parmesan cheese, chop the fresh herbs, or gather the other seasonings you’ve picked to enhance your dish.
Season: Drizzle the cut sides of the squash with olive oil and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. The seasonings and oil will help the squash caramelize as it cooks, infusing it with flavor.
Preheat: Let the squash marinate and absorb spices and herbs for 5 minutes. In the meantime preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C). Then, grease the air fryer basket with oil or cooking spray.
Air fry: Place the squash halves cut-side down in the air fryer basket and cook for about 10-15 minutes, depending on the size of the squash. When the squash is finished, the skin should be tender and easily pierced with a fork. After 15 minutes flip the squash on the other side and cook for an additional 5 minutes. By doing so, the top flesh gets a chance to caramelize, resulting in an even more flavorful dish.
Let the squash cool for a few minutes and then use a fork to scrape the flesh into spaghetti-like strands.
