1fresh pineapplepeeled, cored, and cut into six 1/4 thick rings or chunks
1tablespoonbrown sugar
1teaspoonground cinnamon
1/4teaspoonground nutmeg
1TablespoonExtra virgin olive oil
Instructions
Peel the pineapple and remove the core before cutting it into rings or bite-sized pieces. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200° C) while you prepare the pineapple. In a bowl, toss the pineapple pieces with a tablespoon of olive oil and a sprinkle of cinnamon, brown sugar and nutmeg for added flavor.
Once the air fryer is preheated, place the seasoned pineapple pieces in the basket in a single layer. Cook for 10-15 minutes, flipping each piece halfway through to ensure even cooking. The high heat of the air fryer will caramelize the sugars in the pineapple, creating a sweet and crispy exterior while keeping the inside juicy and tender. I'm using my Cuisinart Air Fryer oven for this recipe.
While the pineapple is cooking, you can prepare a simple dipping sauce to accompany it. Mix ½ cup of plain Greek yogurt with 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of lime juice for a tangy contrast to the sweetness of the pineapple. Once the pineapple is done cooking, serve it warm with a dollop of the yogurt sauce on top. This makes for a perfect dessert or snack that is both satisfying and guilt-free.
Notes
Air Frying Pineapple vs. Dehydrating
When it comes to pineapple, air frying tends to be the better option. Dehydrating can cause pineapple to lose some of its sweetness, making it less enjoyable to eat. In addition, dehydrating pineapple can make it chewy and difficult to bite into. May I recommend trying the Strawberries dried in the Air Fryer instead? They taste like candy but are natural and healthy.Air frying, on the other hand, helps to preserve the natural sweetness of pineapple while also giving it a crispy texture that is perfect for snacking. As a result, if you're looking for the best way to prepare pineapple, air frying is the way to go. It only takes 15 minutes to air fry the pineapple, vs. it takes hours to dehydrate it.
Can I Use Canned Pineapple?
Fresh pineapple is usually sweeter and more flavorful than canned pineapple. If you're looking for the best possible air fryer pineapple experience, use fresh fruit. However, canned pineapple can still be used in an air fryer. Just be sure to drain the pineapple well before cooking, and pat it dry with a paper towel since it is more likely to release liquid during cooking.
