Imagine having foot soles that are almost as soft as baby’s feet? Imagine not having to dread the use of the buffing pad or the pumice stone. If you are like me and very sensitive to a touch of the pumice stone and other skin shaving devices, then consider walking bare feet outside, especially in the summer months. Walking barefoot in the winter is a little harder to achieve due to the natural feeling of cold. I have not practiced that but have heard of people who do.
Just want to share my quick inspiring story with you.
How to get smooth feet naturally while improving your health and hygiene
One year, when I started gardening at the beginning of the summer, I had pretty rough callouses on my soles after ignoring them during the long winter months and my feet felt constantly tired and bloated due to the nature of my job. Then, I accidentally discovered that by walking barefoot while gardening, whether it was watering veggies or pulling out the weeds, made my feet feel so much better!
As the time went and I continued to do so, the skin on my soles became smoother and smoother. Naturally, bottoms of my feet would get pretty dirty from walking on the rough soil. So, whenever I needed to go back into the house, I would just rinse the dirt off in the bucket of cool water and dry my feet with a towel.
Going outside barefoot throughout the day and rotating walking on the rough soil with walking on the grass gave me a different sensation to the feeling of walking barefoot. It is like rotating the deep tissue massage with the relaxing one. I could feel how the circulation in my feet became stronger. They did not feel as tired and bloated anymore.
I did a little research on what was happening. How did I get that lucky to feel better all of a sudden? I came across the “reflexology” term.
Reflexology is an alternative medicine involving application of pressure to the feet and hands’ different areas, called “pressure points”. Those pressure points are believed to correspond with parts and organs in the human body. While massaging certain pressure points on feet or hands, it enhances the health of the corresponding particular organ. Also, it creates a chain reaction that enhanced the whole well-being of human body.
The natural shedding off the skin came in place too. But, how many of us would think that the soles of the feet should get rougher while walking barefoot from picking up all the dirt outside. This is not the case! As the circulation in feet gets better and better, the skin does not keep the dead cells on for long, but is constantly “shaking” it off.
I made two great improvements: one is two my health, second is to my hygiene.
As to health, my blood circulation has improved substantially; and not only to the lower limbs, but throughout the whole body, according to reflexology theory.
As to my hygiene, the natural massage of the skin of my soles gave it a stronger blood flow too while my dead skin shed off naturally trough rubbing against the soil and the grass. I got my baby smooth feet naturally! It took about couple months or so; but, I got them! ☺
If you to ask for my advice, then I would strongly recommend to read up about the reflexology. It is a pretty interesting topic and yogis from India have practiced it throughout the centuries. They went as far as walking on nails (as in tools) and hot coils. Ouch! That is why when one takes yoga classes, it is common to practice it barefoot.

Watching where you walk while being barefoot helps to prevent from cutting yourself. If you feel sometimes roughness of the soil or a little pebble slightly scratching the sole of your foot, do not be discouraged! Enjoy the walk! Enjoy that massaging feeling that your feet are getting as your blood is moving freely through the whole body.
