It seems as though I am constantly cleaning up after someone else’s mess in our house. From crumbs on the floor and carpet to leaves and debris on the entryway mat, it is a never-ending battle of me versus the sloppy people in our house. Taking the big ole vacuum out everyday is just big pain in the you know what. The portable dust buster isn’t powerful enough to get everything up so I am basically stuck with using the vacuum, which just takes up too much time. I was always interested in a portable vacuum that is lightweight and cordless but had enough power to get the job done. A vacuum that could be used daily for those quick in between cleanings. Up until now everything that I have seen on the market was just too expensive.
That is why I got super excited when I got an email with an invitation to a Hoover event. The event is actually called Hoover Happy Power Hour with Jessie James Decker. I was invited as a media among other top-NYC area editors. The event took place at a gorgeous Penthouse 45 event space where there was almost 360 degree open view of Midtown Manhattan.
The friendly Hoover staff greeted us at Penthouse 45 and offered the drinks and yummy bites while demonstrating 4 of their newest Hoover vacuums from the cordless family. They also provided an amazing opportunity to meet and greet country recording artist, reality star, busy NFL wife and mother of two Jessie James Decker. And to also hear Jessie’s cleaning tips, she just a had a brand new baby girl.
A name like Hoover has been in the vacuum business for like ever so I was eager to give them a try. At the event I got my hands on each of their vacuums: Air Cordless 2-in 1 (Stick and handheld vacuum) , FloorMate Cordless that can wash, scrub and dry, Air Cordless Lift (that has a detachable canister for cleaning hard to reach places like stairs, ceilings and cars), and Hoover cordless first full size upright vacuum.
I didn’t care much for FloorMate Cordless, because it seemed to work much slower and needed some patience to work with. My priority is to clean everyday kitchen mess fast. My top 2 picks were Air Cordless 2-in 1 and and Air Cordless lift.
There were drawing at the event for a chance to win a vacuum of choice. Total of 4 winners from business cards put in a basket. At the end of the event MY NAME was selected as a LUCKY winner of one of the vacuums. The drawings were picked by Jessie James Decker and I was pleasantly surprised and shocked when she said my name! I was recording on video during the drawings and when she said my name. I was beyond happy that I won! It was most definitely Happy Power Hour. At least for me! Now I had to pick my preferred vacuum of choice and to walk away home with it!! Decisions decisions…! Go to my Google Plus album and see Behind the scenes look from my shoot from Gorgeous Penthouse 45 event space in Midtown Manhattan and the vacuuming in action!
Sooo.. I picked the Hoover cordless 2-in-1 upright with a detachable mini vacuum because I was always interested in a portable vacuum that is lightweight and cordless but had enough power to get the job done. A vacuum that could be used daily for those quick in between cleanings. And this Hoover cordless 2-in-1 seemed like exactly what I needed for my everyday kitchen messes.
It comes with one lithium battery that is supposed to last for 15 minutes. After bringing it home and charging it for the 6 hours (because the battery was already slightly pre-charged) I popped the battery into the back of the vacuum and turned it on. It has two settings – one with suction and brush for carpets and one with suction alone for bare floors. The vacuum also has a powerful bright light on the front, which allows you to see all of the dirt and dust on the floors. I have to say it was pretty scary seeing all the dirt and hair that was lying on our floors. I am not sure if the light is special but it is great at allowing you to see everything. You can even vacuum in the dark! The suction of the vacuum is definitely sufficient and the power brush does a decent job on rugs and carpets.
Overall I like my new Hoover cordless vacuum. It is lightweight and powerful enough to get the cleaning job done. The power stays consistent throughout use unlike other portables that get weaker the longer you use them. The only drawback I found was the lengthy time that it takes to charge the battery (9 hours). This isn’t that big of a deal since I only need 10 to 15 minutes to clean the floors every day. But I may consider purchasing an extra battery.
