My tween and I just made this fantastic body scrub! It only need 3 ingredients and leaves your skin silky soft and pampered. Check out the recipe below.

3 ingredient fantastic body scrub

Over the weekend my 11 year old and I had a discussion about the importance of skincare starting from early tween age. Although her face has not been affected yet by the “teen skin problems” like acne, oily skin, sweating etc., she told me that she has been washing her face with water only. Which is still fine, but much often she needs to take care of her skin.

My girl got super excited when I told her that I have partnered with Johnson & Johnson with their sponsored campaign to learn about new skincare products from my old time favorite brands like Neutrogena, Clean & Clear and Aveeno.

How to get a tween excited about skincare? Here are 3 tips to try on your next mother-daughter Skincare Adventures!

1. Girls day out with eating wings at the neighborhood favorite restaurant and then shopping at Target for the skincare product that will be her very own.

target express in forest hills

We went to our local Target which is called Target Express. Most of the time you would see a Target store with a huge parking lot and ton of cars. Well our Target Express just got launched replacing our favorite book store, but it is still convenient. It is 10 minutes walking distance from my home, conveniently situated in the heart of Forest Hills and does not stand out as a HUGE store. I like to go to there on my way home from the gym to pick up some personal products and they have pretty large skincare department (like 2 whole isles)

2. Get your girl HER VERY OWN skincare product.

While in Target we looked around and agreed what products we are going to purchase for her and mine use. Her top picks were Clean and Clear acne triple clear exfoliating scrub
Clean & Clear Triple Clear Bubble Foam Cleanser

Clean & Clear Acne Triple Clear Exfoliating Scrub contains 2% salicylic acid acne medication and formulated with non-plastic, biodegradable microbeads for a gentle, yet deep clean for deep clean. My daughter likes how gently it exfoliates skin, while scrubbing away dirt and oil and is gentle enough for daily use and all skin types. It also smells great with aloe and mint.
Aveeno Positively Radiant 60 Second In Shower Facial Cleanser
Her second pick was Aveeno Positively radiant 60 seconds in shower cleanser.

This is a quick facial you can do in the shower 1-2 times a week. The Active Naturals Total Soy Complex and Lemon Peel Extract does a great job giving dull looking skin a boost and evening out skin tone. It’s also gentle enough to use on her sensitive teenage skin.

For myself I picked Neutrogena Hydro boost hydrating cleansing gel with hyaluronic acid. It is a weightless water-gel, oil-free formula that boosts hydration for 24 hours for more radiant, smoother skin over time – even after you take it off.
And real pretty Neutrogena hydro boost hydrating lip shine.  I love that it is non-sticky, makes my lips look smoother and creates the look of fuller lips. I noticed that my lips felt hydrated for a long time.

We got 3 solid hours of girl time together and when we got home, her first wish was to go to the shower and use her new products. She was very happy and excited about her new skincare routine and I’m happy that I was able to educate my girl and to use this New Year as an opportunity to turn the time I care for my skin into a quality time with my favorite girl! and to create a memorable mother-daughter “Skincare Adventures”

Savings at Target

Head to your local Target with your girl and get excited because Now through the end of March Target is offering some can’t miss in-store and Cartwheel promotions on your favorite skincare essentials from Neutrogena, Aveeno and Clean & Clear that will not only make you and your daughter’s skin look great, but will save you money at the same time!
  • In-store: Neutrogena – Buy 3 Neutrogena products (skincare only), get $5 Target gift card
  • Cartwheel: Aveeno – 5% off
  • Cartwheel: Clean & Clear – 5% off
Don’t have Cartwheel? Check out the app, it’s the rewarding way to save at Target!

I’m thankful to Johnson and Johnson for the opportunity to have a little skincare adventure with my daughter.

Head to your Target store today! Not only are there great deals abound, but it is also an excellent opportunity to spend some quality time with your teen.

3. Get your girl excited about creating the DIY home made sugar scrub for your body

This takes about 5 minutes and requires only 3 basic ingredients. The finished product is fantastic, easy to use in the shower. Leaves your skin silky and smooth. If you place it in a glass jar it is perfect to give as a gift to a girlfriend at school for Valentine’s day or to a teacher!

You need:

1 cup of white sugar

Half a cup of coconut oil. Melt coconut oil in microwave for 20-30 seconds, then mix together with sugar. This is it! No refrigeration needed

Optional: you can add few drops of your favorite essential oil or food coloring to achieve the desired color.

Directions in the shower: Pick up a good amount of scrub and start scrubbing all over your skin. Rinse with water. Your skin will remain silky smooth. Note: Don’t forget to use a shower mat to prevent from slipping.

Enjoy!

Such lovely body scrubs! They would make great gifts! It’s such a good idea to get kids interested in skin care early, and help them to establish good routines.

I love that there are so many more options out there now. Seems like back in my day there were just one or two and I hated put them on my face because they smelled so horrible.
