If I were to take a survey I would bet that the most common lunchtime meal that people eat everyday is some type of sandwich. Whether it is your basic PB&J or maybe your gourmet type on a brioche bun you have to agree that most people are chowing down on some type of sandwich during lunchtime.
Today I was looking to create a special type of sandwich for lunch. Not just your run of the mill deli meat with cheese and mayo. I wanted to go a step further and liven things up a bit. The lunchmeat I chose to use was Hillshire Farms Naturals. I had a choice of their turkey or ham but decided to go with the latter since I was having a craving for ham. Ham is usually a bit saltier than turkey and for some reason my body was fiending for some salt.
After opening up the package of Black Forest ham I couldn’t help but try a couple of slices before making my sandwich. The ham was smooth and moist and not slimy like some deli meats I get from the store. It had a nice flavor and had just the right amount of saltiness for my liking. So I decided to use a nice round bakery roll for my sandwich rather than white or whole wheat bread slices.
After cutting the roll in half I removed some of the bread from the top part of the roll to create a small pocket. I then buttered each side of the roll, sprinkled some organic garlic powder on it, and lightly toasted it. While this was going on I placed several slices of the Hillshire Farms Natural Ham on a plate and covered it with one slice of cheddar cheese. I placed this into the microwave for about 17 seconds to melt the cheese onto the ham. When the bun was toasted I put the ham and melted cheese onto the bottom half and poured about a teaspoon of blue cheese dressing on top of that. I then placed a couple of thin slices of lettuce a top the blue cheese. On the top half of the roll the part with the pocket I placed several slices of organic cucumber, few pieces of avocado and the crunchy potato chips. I know some people love their chips on the side, but my sandwich has to have crunch build into the sandwich for an ultimate premium crunch and taste. Try it! You’ll like it.
After my sandwich was built, I close the roll and slice it in half down the middle. My sandwich creation looked great and I was eager to take a bite. Sure enough it tasted just great. The combination of the Hillshire Farm Natural Ham with all of the other fresh ingredients proved to be very tasty and scrumptious. The sandwich left me feeling full but not overstuffed. The only thing left to do is give my new sandwich creation a name. Any suggestions?
